The most practical everyday option

Why hinged bath screens are so popular

For many family bathrooms, a hinged bath screen provides the best balance of splash protection and everyday access. It can move away from the bath when you need to reach the taps, help children in and out, clean around the bath edge or use the bath without showering.

  • Easier access to taps and controls
  • More convenient when bathing children
  • Allows better access for cleaning
  • Can fold inward or outward where the product and room allow
  • Available in framed, semi-frameless and frameless designs

A hinge is also a moving component, so the screen must be suitable for the installation and fitted securely. Poor alignment, unsuitable products or overstressed hinges can lead to sagging, movement or premature failure.

Practical width: most bath screens are designed to cover approximately half the bath, commonly around 750–900mm. The right width depends on the bath, shower-head position and how the shower is used.

Bath screens we install

Choose the screen that suits the bathroom

The best screen is not always the most expensive. It should provide sensible water coverage, remain easy to use and suit the bath and wall available for fixing.

Most popular

Hinged bath screens

A single moving panel that improves access to the bath, taps and shower area. A good option for busy family bathrooms when properly selected and installed.

Simple and stable

Fixed bath screens

A fixed panel with no moving hinge. Suitable where access remains practical and the screen provides enough coverage for the shower position.

Extra flexibility

Two-fold bath screens

A two-panel folding arrangement for bathrooms where a single wide panel would obstruct access. We assess the quality and practicality of the chosen product before installation.

Minimal appearance

Frameless bath screens

Clean, modern glass screens using discreet hinges, clamps or channels. Correct glass specification, hardware and support are essential.

Wider coverage

Fixed panel with hinged section

A fixed section provides additional coverage while a smaller hinged section allows practical access and cleaning.

Made for the room

Bespoke bath screens

Made-to-measure glass for unusual widths, non-standard heights or bathrooms where a normal manufactured screen does not provide the right solution.

Remove, prepare and refit

Bath screen replacement without leaving the difficult part to you

An old bath screen may be leaking, loose, corroded, difficult to move or suffering from hinge failure. Replacing it involves more than unscrewing one product and attaching another.

  • Remove the old screen and accessible fixings
  • Cut away and clean old silicone
  • Review the existing holes and fixing position
  • Check the replacement screen against the available space
  • Install, align and seal the new screen
  • Explain sealant cure time and everyday care

Where old holes, damaged tiles or unsuitable previous fixings affect the job, we will explain the options before continuing. Remedial work or additional return visits may be chargeable.

Common reasons bath screens disappoint

Good installation cannot rescue the wrong design—but it can prevent avoidable failures

Water leakage is not always caused by missing silicone. Screen width, shower position, hinge design, alignment and the intended drainage route all matter.

1

Poor water coverage

A narrow screen, powerful shower or badly positioned shower head can send water beyond the panel. Bath screens normally cover around half the bath, but the exact setup still matters.

2

Hinge failure or movement

Hinges carry the weight of the moving glass. Poor-quality hardware, incorrect adjustment, unsuitable fixing or a screen being forced beyond its intended movement can cause problems.

3

Inadequate sealing

Sealant should be applied in the right locations without blocking designed drainage paths. Bottom seals and contact points also need to meet the bath correctly.

A straightforward route from photos to fitting

How the bath screen service works

Most straightforward bath-screen installations do not need a separate site survey. We can usually agree the scope and price from clear photographs and product information.

1

Send photographs

Send the bath, tiled wall, shower position, existing screen if relevant, approximate dimensions and postcode.

2

We assess the project

We check whether the screen appears suitable, identify likely issues and confirm whether this is fit-only, supply-and-fit or replacement work.

3

Installation arranged

Once the product and scope are agreed, we arrange the fitting. A straightforward bath screen commonly takes around one to two hours.

4

Seal and handover

The screen is aligned, sealed and checked. We explain any cure time—normally 24 hours unless the sealant or manufacturer states otherwise.

Clear starting prices

Bath screen supply and installation guide prices

The £190 budget option is a complete supply-and-installation package—not an installation-only price. Final quotations depend on the chosen screen, location, access, wall condition and any removal or remedial work.

Remove and replace

From £230

Removal of an existing screen and old silicone followed by installation and sealing of a suitable replacement.

Custom or bespoke

From £300

Made-to-measure or non-standard bath-screen projects, subject to glass, hardware and installation requirements.

Guide prices are confirmed after reviewing photographs and the intended product. Additional travel, difficult access, tile repairs, disposal, specialist glass or return visits may affect the quotation.

Manufactured and made-to-measure screens

Independent installation across leading bathroom brands

We fit customer-supplied bath screens and can also supply a suitable product as part of the installation. Our advice is based on the bath and room rather than being tied to one manufacturer.

Common brands include Crosswater, Merlyn, Lakes, Matki, Kudos and Coram. We can also assess screens from other established manufacturers where fitting information and suitable components are available.

Is a bath screen suitable?

Most installations are on a regular bath with a suitable wall at one end

A standard bath-screen installation normally needs a stable bath and a finished wall in the correct position for fixing. Straight baths are the most common and usually provide the simplest route.

Before agreeing the work, we consider:

  • The available wall and fixing position
  • The bath rim and screen contact point
  • The shower-head position and likely water direction
  • Access to taps and the wider bathroom
  • Whether a hinged, fixed or made-to-measure screen is most practical
  • Any old holes, existing damage or previous sealant

Shaped baths, unusual layouts and freestanding arrangements are assessed individually. In some rooms, a standard bath screen may not be the right solution.

Bath screen questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you install a bath screen I have already purchased?
Yes. Send the make, model or product link together with photographs of the bath, wall and shower area. We will check the likely suitability and fitting requirements before arranging the installation.
Can you supply the bath screen as well as install it?
Yes. Our budget supply-and-install package starts from £190 and includes a new hinged bath screen, standard fittings, professional installation and sealing on a suitable finished bath and tiled wall. Upgraded, frameless and bespoke options are also available.
How much does bath screen installation cost?
A new budget hinged bath screen supplied and professionally installed starts from around £190. This is a complete supply-and-fit price, not labour only. Removal and replacement projects generally start around £230, while custom or bespoke screens begin around £300. Photographs are normally enough for us to confirm a more accurate quotation.
How wide should a bath screen be?
Many bath screens are approximately 750–900mm wide and are intended to cover around half the bath. The most suitable width also depends on the shower-head position, water flow and how the shower is used.
Are hinged bath screens better than fixed screens?
A hinged screen is often more convenient because it improves access to the taps, bath and cleaning areas. A fixed screen has fewer moving components and may be suitable where access remains practical. The best option depends on the room and intended use.
Can you remove and dispose of my old bath screen?
Yes. Removal of the old screen and accessible silicone can be included in a replacement quotation. Disposal can also be agreed in advance. Existing tile damage, old holes or difficult remedial work may affect the final price.
Why is my current bath screen leaking?
Possible causes include inadequate screen width, unsuitable shower positioning, worn bottom seals, poor alignment, incorrect silicone placement or water escaping around the hinge area. Photographs usually help us identify the likely issue.
How long before I can use the shower after installation?
Allow 24 hours for the silicone to cure unless the sealant or screen manufacturer states otherwise. We will confirm the correct waiting time at handover.
