The Finished Opening Is Not Automatically the Glass Size
A finished opening might measure 900mm, but the manufactured glass may need to be smaller. Hinges, U-channel, clamps, seals, door movement and installation clearance all require planned deductions.
Those deductions are specific to the selected hardware and configuration. Ordering a glass sheet at exactly the same dimension as the opening can make it impossible to install or operate safely.

An Exact Fit Does Not Mean Zero Gap
Toughened glass must be protected from hard contact with tiles, stone and surrounding finishes. The correct result uses small designed tolerances appropriate to the channels, clamps, hinges and seals.
This allows the glass to be installed, aligned and operated without treating the finished building as though it were a perfectly machined opening.

Holes and machining must be decided before toughening
Hinge cut-outs, handle holes, clamp positions and other machining are completed before the glass is toughened. The finished panel cannot later be drilled, trimmed, shortened or altered on site.
Hardware Compatibility Matters as Much as Size
A panel can have the correct width and height and still be unusable if its glass thickness, holes or edge clearances do not match the chosen fittings.

If customer-supplied glass does not fit
Toughened glass cannot be corrected on site. SSI will explain any mismatch or missing component before continuing. Alternative parts, replacement glass or return attendance may be chargeable and are handled reasonably case by case.
